Sweet but Sour: The Frustrations of Living with Diabetes
Being diabetic is probably one of the most frustrating conditions to have. If you get diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic, you go to the doctor, the doctor tells you, Hey, here’s a drug for the rest of your life. Go lose some weight, go exercise, go change your diet, and that’s it. So I was literally just on the call with a potential patient that wanted to get into one of my programs, and they were a diabetic for literally over 20 years. And they took medication after medication, after medication, onto insulin, and so forth.
So I said to her, I said, I know your goals are to lose weight and less in medication. So I said, What happens if you went to your doctor? And you said, Listen, I want to go lose some weight. And what’s the plan for that? And she said, Well, the plan, he would tell me is go lose some weight. So I said, Well, how would you go do that? You’re taking insulin, which is a fat storm hormone. How would you go lose weight? And she said he wouldn’t tell me. He would say, Just lose some weight. And that is a big frustration.
You have to know what to do in order to get results, especially as a diabetic.
