    I was diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic. My Blood sugar was in the high 500’s. I know a walking time bomb. I watched this video and subsequently implemented the doctor’s advice in my lifestyle. Fast forward to February . After recording all my blood sugar readings it showed of average range of 91 to 101. My doctor’s first word to me were “it’s a miracle” you are no longer a diabetic.     I have type 2 and its been over a year since I was diagnosed. Since then I took insulin and pills for about 2 weeks until i decided to stop and switched to a super low carb and sugar lifestyle. Its been more than 1 yr now and i have not had my glucose lvls go higher than 120 (usually between 90 & 110). I still eat ice cream and burgers sometimes but I make sure to exercise daily! And I always check my glucose at home daily just in case. Its crazy how much money I’ve saved from not buying insulin, needles, and meds…. bc i dint have insurance for my meds so i payed almost $200 for my first insulin medication for a month.

    I was diagnosed with Type2 about a year and a half ago. I cut out sugar and carbs. I also went on Metformin and Victoza. My doctor told me that most of her patients take a year to a year and a half to get to where I got in 3 months. Mysteriously, a lot of people don’t take Type 2 very seriously. They think that if they take the meds and just cut back on sugar and carbs, they’ll be OK.
    My average blood glucose level went way down. My A1C went from 10.6 to 5.8, and I’ve lost 75 lbs, so far. My goal is to get off the meds entirely. And thanks to Dr. Spages I have learned about the reverse diabetes.

    I am not trying to be argumentative here or even critical Dr. Spages, just giving my experience and perspective on this. I was diagnosed as diabetic 8 months ago and weighed 225 pounds at the time. My A1c was 9.9. Eight months later I am 153 pounds, having lost 72 pounds. My A1c is now 5.3 and my daily sugar readings average 5.0. Eight months ago my cholesterol was very high, along with my triglycerides, and my kidneys weren’t functioning normally. I had IBS, bad digestive problems, and had a lot of pain in my legs due to arthritis. I decided to go on a low-carb, higher fat diet and cut out all sweets and processed foods. Today, my cholesterol and triglyceride levels are completely normal and my kidneys are functioning normally. I no longer have IBS or digestive problems. Also, I have very little pain from arthritis and can walk much better. I realize that what I am reading and seeing here is in direct opposition to what I have done. Just wanted to share my experience. By the way, all this without diabetic medication.

    I’ve been told for almost 20 years by my doctors I was pre-diabetic. A sedentary lifestyle in the last 10 years and bad diet finally doomed me and was diagnosed with full-blown type 2 diabetes in June 2020 with horrible numbers of blood glucose of 342 & an A1C of 11.2 By the simple act of avoiding carbs n sugars plus regular exercise, in my case walking I dropped 35 lbs in three months. I refused to take insulin and have maintained normal readings of 95-105, sometimes under 90. The point is a diagnosis of diabetes is not the end of the world. It can be reversed without meds. What Dr. Spages Saying is true!

    As a public health educator and health coach, what you’ve presented here is what I’ve been trying to educate providers and patients alike about here in the US. You wouldn’t believe how awful diabetes care is over here. I have at least 2 people a day newly diagnosed that report receiving NO EDUCATION from their providers. It’s maddening.
    My husband is T2DM, and like you, ate mostly healthy and only very mildly overweight. His physician told him to get insulin so if he wanted to eat chocolate cake, he could pre-dose himself. It took everything in me not to cuss her out. She also wanted him to take statins without ever having checked his lipid panel. When I told him to ask her for orders to check, his lipids are totally normal. And, we know statins cause an increase in glucose ????????????????????

    I use Extra Light Olive Oil. I use unsalted butter.. I do not like veggie or granola oils at all. I drink more spring water daily. 2 to 3 bottles per day. I love. veggies, corn bread, fruits( seasonal fruits). Very little pork, but fish I can eat daily. Salmon, Red Snapper, Trout, & Fresh Trouts. Being raised on a farm. Grow veggies were my food daily. Home grown chicken & pork. & very little beef. Fish was. more available than anything else. So I know what great health is about for me Doctor Jonathan Spages.

    Quoted from my keto for diabetics group “After 2 years of being plant based and trying to get my blood sugar under control I was getting frustrated.     I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was put on metformin. That was it. I think I was supposed to accept that I’ll be on pills forever. All my complaints of depression, addiction, weight gain, anemia, breathlessness, racing heart, high blood pressure, bad back, abdominal pain and not being able to walk more than two minutes without collapsing was dismissed as ‘ bad general health’.

    I am a type 1.5 diabetic and been able to go off actos pill after 1 month plant based and come off some insulin but sugars still spike with foods like rice, potatoes, bread, and bananas im just interested in keeping my numbers lower with less insulin and now that I see this blog might as well try this, thanks Dr Spages!

    There is a lot of Choctaw in my family, genetically I’m screwed and have a family history. doesn’t help that I got really fat. I was at 425 a couple years ago. I dropped to 338. I had a toe infection and went to urgent care. since I have a family history of it, and I’m fat, they took my blood sugar. Fasting blood sugar in the morning was 130-150. My A1C at the time of diagnosis was 10. I’m waiting for my follow up to see if it’s lowered. It was pretty high after I started monitoring. I went to a doctor. I started a diet, I was already active in trying to lose weight already. I’ve dropped to 318 however I most likely have a thyroid issue, and waiting for a test. if it comes back bad, which knowing my family history it most likely will and will have to take medicine for it for the rest of my life, however that will help me in losing the weight better than I’m already am. My blood sugar right now with the medicine I take, never goes about 135 even after eating. Before dinner it will be in the upper 90s or lower 100s. The diet sucks but I don’t want to be on insulin like my grandmother who was dependent on it at 40. Currently I’m not taking insulin. I follow the Reverse Diabetes of Dr Jonathan Spages, because of hypertension which is now managed and safe, but I’m vitamin D deficient despite being outside up to 3 hours a day, and food I consume. I’ve slowly started kicking it the balls since I’ve been diagnosed. It’s not that hard for me to follow but my girlfriend is doing it with me. She hates the diet, she won’t exercise with me no matter what. She’s lucky. she’s not even prediabetic.

    Low carb works for me. I don’t eat more than 30 carbs a day. once you lose all you want to you go up on carbs until you start putting it back on. stop and back down until you hold where you want to be. it works but you have to make it a life style.     This is a brilliant video. I love Dr. Jonathan Spages and he’s indeed one of the greats in the LCHF arena. I do take a degree of consternation though with the suggestion that type 1 diabetics MUST take insulin. If, and I do mean a big if, a T1D fasted their way to level and low blood sugar and gradually and purposefully introduced a low carbohydrate diet into their system and when the risk of ketoacidosis was past or clearly minimized, it would be entirely possible to manage without insulin at all. This was, in fact, the practice in the late 1800s through 1922 prior to the availability of ANIMAL insulin. A T1D could simply keep insulin handy for an emergency and usually sugar toxicity is not instant unless soemeone with T1D ate a big piece of cake or something. It was deterined by Elliott Joslin that children teens were often—not always—very receptive to this idea and exhibited much greater self control than grown adult men and women who ATE their way to T2D.
