Is Diabetes Really Genetic?

Conventional genetic analysis focuses on the genes that account for precise phenotype traditional epidemiology is more disturbed with the environmental causes and risk factors related to traits. But the questions is diabetes genetic? In the world today, diabetes is not just transmitted genetically but an individual accumulate diabetes because of the food they take. Genetic epidemiology is an alliance of the two fields that focuses on both genetics, including allelic variants in different populations and environment in order to explain exactly how genes convey effects in different environmental contexts and to come up at a more complete comprehension of the etiology of complex traits.

I remember when I went to my doctor and he told me that my diabetes was genetic because my parents both had diabetes. I think Dr Spages is the only person that I’ve ever heard of that actually mentions that it’s not genetic. Why do the doctors lie in? I’ll see my doctor in about 3 weeks from my A1C test and I can’t wait to talk to him about this. I’m kind of sick of mainstream healthcare leading us diabetics in the wrong direction.

Female. Soon to be 56 yrs old in a few days. Ignored the fact that I was pre-diabetic and diabetic for years. Doctors were telling me constantly to take my meds consistently and change my way of eating. They also emphasized exercise. I took these messages half seriously. In this year, I hit the 273 lb mark. Scared me. I was taking time off of the job due to my chronic condition. I drank beer, ate my usual bag of salted carbs, bread, bags of candy, fast food meals etc… My blood levels were in the 300’s. My blood pressure was way too high. I don’t want to die just yet. Got back on a kettle bell routine and re-introduced myself to power walking. FINALLY eliminated salt from my diet. Eating healthy. Suddenly, the weight is dropping with regularity. Checking my sugar levels with regularity. Taking my insulin dosage as prescribed by my doctor. I’m on the right track. Going to add more years to my life
